Local Sports for Tuesday October 26

Fort Frances Lakers have cracked the Canadian Junior A Hockey League weekly top twenty for the first time..

The Lakers, who are tied for the SIJHL lead with the Fort William North Stars, have been ranked 17th in the country.

The Lakers play host to Dryden at the Ice for Kids Arena tonight at 7:30 p.m.



Lakers netminder Jameson Shortreed will face some international competition next month.

The 17-year-old from Emo was the only player from the SIJHL to be named to Canada's West team that will compete at the World Junior A Challenge in Penticton, British Columbia.



On the high school schedule, the Fort Frances Muskies court teams play Beaver Brae in Kenora.

Atikokan Voyageurs court teams are also in Kenora to play Thomas Aquinas.

International Falls Broncos football team travels to Virginia for a quarter-final game in the Section 7AA championship playoffs
