Local Sports for Monday October 18

Fort Frances Lakers did all of their scoring in the second period to defeat Duluth Cyclones 4-2 yesterday, earning a split in their weekend road trip.

Jace Baldwin with a pair of power play goals, Henry Gutierrez and Jaret Leclair providing the scoring.

Saturday, the Lakers fell 7-3 to the Fort William North Stars.

Tyler Stevenson, Byron Katapaytuk and Brad Bienvenue scoring for the Lakers.




Fort Frances Boston Pizza Royals AA peewee team lost 4-2 to the Kenora Thistles Sunday.

Brett Hahkala and Graham Kitt scored for the Royals.




The Fort Frances Aquanauts picked up twenty wins in the pool at a season-opening meet in Dryden Saturday.

Donovan Taylor, Levi Rittau and Katja Sutherland each won four events in their age categories.

Regan Danylchuk and Cole Trimble swam to three wins each.

The team also saw its swimmers record 28 personal bests.
