Local Sports for Thursday October 14

Fort Frances Lakers earned their first road win of the season with a 5-2 victory over the Dryden Ice Dogs last night in Dryden.

The Lakers got goals from Matthew Caulfield, Tyler Stevenson, Connor Hady, Jon Sinclair and
Henry Guitierez.

Jameson Shortreed made 33 saves for the win.



A former Fort Frances Lakers is rejoining the SIJHL with a different team.

Ty Brueggeman joins the Dryden Ice Dogs after being released by the Lakers two weeks ago.

The defenceman from Atikokan played just three games with the Lakers recording no points.



Fort Frances Muskies court teams left Dryden yesterday with just one victory.

The junior boys volleyball team avenged last week's home opener loss to the Eagles with a 15-13, 5th set win.

The senior boys were beaten in four sets.

Both the senior and junior girls basketball teams went to overtime before losing to Dryden.

The seniors were beat 28-23 while the juniors lost by a foul shot on a tough call in overtime 27-26.

Sarah Glover led with 8 points.

Allan Walsh and Celia Berry each added 6.
