Local Sports for Wednesday October 6

Fort Frances Lakers paid tribute to former assistant coach Bob Mainville then went out and beat the expansion Duluth Clydesdales 7-1 at the Ice for Kids Arena last night.

Prior to the game, the Lakers unveiled a team jersey recognizing Mainville, who tragically died in the off season.

Players also wore his initials on the sleeves of their jerseys.

Tyler Stevenson led with two goals.

Cody Hasbargen, Jon Sinclair, Ryan Wildman, Jordan Sinclair and Jaret Leclair had the others.




It was a split on the court for the Fort Frances Muskies.

The girls basketball teams defeated Dryden with the Seniors winning 30-13 and the juniors earning a 20-15 over the Eagles.

The senior boys volleyball team fell in 4-sets to Dryden while the juniors lost their first of the year in three close sets.




Falls High School girls swim team lost for just the third time this season and first at home, being edged by three points in head-to-head competition with Warroad.

Paige Herzig in the 200 I-M, Breanna Shofner in the 50 free and Maggie West in the 100 free picked up individuals wins

The 200 yard medley and 200 Freestyle Relay teams also earned victories.
