Local Sports for Monday May 2

Luke Skaarup of Fort Frances was the winner of the Strongman competition held as part of the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce Home Show.

Skaarap won two events and finish third in another to finish 2.5 points up on runner-up Kyle Rayner of Thunder Bay.



Anika Alexander reached the Silver division semi-finals for girls 15 and under at the Canadian Junior Squash Championships in Calgary before losing out to a player from Halifax.

Her Fort Frances club teammate Angel McCormack reached the quarter-finals of the same division.



Fort Frances Muskies boys soccer team gave up a goal in the last second of overtime Saturday to fall 3-2 to Miles Mac during tournament play in Winnipeg.

Dave Chambers on a penalty shot and Jeff Gustafson scored for the Muskies who begin NorWossa play Wednesday.



International Falls Broncos boys baseball team dropped an error filled game to Hibbing Friday 15-3.

The Broncos commited 10 errors, all in the first inning that allowed Hibbing to score 11 times.



Rainy River Voyageurs women's softball team lost to Hibbing Community College Friday 15-7.

Catelin Fafard went the distance for the loss.




Falls High School boys golf team finish second at a rain-shortened Grand Slam Invitational in Grand Rapids.

Glenn Walls shot a 74 and tied for second in individual scoring Friday.

Saturday's rounds were cancelled due to rain.
