Local Sports for Thursday May 12

Three area badminton players go for OFSAA gold today.

Courtney Hanson of Rainy River High School competes in girls singles at the all-Ontario high school championships.

The Fort Frances High School tandem of Robert Stevens and Spencer Pearce open play this afternoon in boys doubles.



At the NorWossa soccer tournament in Kenora, the Fort Frances Muskies boys team won its opener 4-nothing over Dryden, but fell 2-nothing to Kenora.

Muskies still lead the division over the Beaver Brae by a single point.



A six-run six-inning powered the International Falls Broncos boys baseball team to a 13-7 win over Eveleth-Gilbert.

Three bunts, a single, two walks, a sac bunt and fly led to the big inning.

Meantime, the Broncos junior varsity squad beat Eveleth-Gilbert 9-6.



Just one score to pass on from International Falls Little League.

Northern Lumber got past Energy Fitness Centre 13-10 in a boys Major A division game.
