Local Sports For Friday July 27


A 19.73 pound bag of smallmouth bass has given the team of Mark Raveling and Mike Luhman of Minnesota the first day lead at the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship.

Last year's co-winners Glenn Leroux and Trevor Zimak sit over a pound back in second.

Top local team so far is Jim Sandelovick and Karl Howells who weighed in near the end of the day with 17.25 pounds to sit fourth.

Second day of fishing is now underway with the 97 angling teams leaving from the Sorting Gap Marina this morning.

Weigh-ins resume at 3:30 p.m. at the Memorial Sports Centre.




Just one game in the Rainy River District Fastball League playoffs managed to go last night.

Rainy River advanced to the quarter-finals with an 8-2 win over Stratton.

Three other second round games were called due to weather.




Go-kart races go tonight in Emo beginning at 7 p.m.


They were washed out in International Falls yesterday.
