Local Sports for Monday August 13

At Emo Speedway, Gavin Paull in the Modified division, John Hettinga in the midwest modified and Chris Shine in the Street Stocks were feature winners Saturday night.




On the go-kart track at Emo Friday Tanner Williamson won the feature in the advance class.

Justin Besch won the novice division feature.




Go-karting in International Falls yesterday saw Wyatt Boyum earn feature wins in both the junior two and senior classes.

Brian Nelson was the winner in the Masters division.

Justin Besch took the win in junior one while Garrett Paull earned checkers in the beginner class.




Winners at the Atikokan Mudfling on the weekend

Micheal Alanen swept the Open class and won the pro-modified class event Saturday.

Jesse Barnard won the modified class Saturday and Sunday's pro-mods

Terry Desaulnier was Sunday's mod winner.

Pro-stock winners were Ryan Druhar on Saturday and Marc Caron Sunday.

And Yanna Zajamy won a Powder Puff division held Sunday.

Aaron Wiebe and Peter Tully of Manitoba captured the Kenora Bass International with a three-day catch of almost 52-pounds.

Oliver and Jason Gibbons of Sleeman, in 5th, had the best finish among Rainy River district teams entered.



SIJHL has revised its schedule for the 2012-13.

Fort Frances Lakers will now start the season on the road September 26th with a game against the Minnesota Iron Rangers, formerly the Iron Range Ironheads.

The first home game is still scheduled for September 28th against the Minnesota Wilderness, formerly Wisconsin.
