Local Sports For Wednesday August 22

Stratton Eagles have moved on to the Rainy River District Fastball League semi-finals.

Homeruns from Jeff Kreger and Ziggy Seguin powered the Eagles to a 12-9 win over Rainy River to advance.

Eagles will play Beefs Warriors tomorrow for the right to play Big Grassy Braves for the championship.




Efforts to stage a Northwestern Ontario Regional Soccer Championship in Fort Frances this weekend  have been curtailed

Organizers were hoping to have teams from Fort Frances, Dryden, Kenora and Sioux Lookout, but they says not enough teams were able to commit.

They're now looking at running the tournament next year.
