Local Sports for Tuesday August 7


At Emo Speedway Saturday, Bemidji driver Justin Jones outbattled Gavin Paul for the feature win in the WISSOTA modified class.

Other winners were Christopher Leek in the Midwest Modified division and Libby Wilson in the street stocks.



On the go-kart track in Emo Friday, Aric Supinski was the winner of a heat and the feature in the advanced class.


Delbert Collettee had the other heat win.

Raice Westover swept events in the Novice class.




It's win or go home for four teams in the Rainy River District Fastball League playoffs tonight.

Stratton is up against Barwick.

Rainy River faces Manitou.

Winners will face each other in a quarter-final game Thursday.




The Borderland Soccer League kicks off its playoffs tonight with its men's semi-finals.

Manitou Forest Products plays the La Place Rendez-Vous Voyageurs

International Travel Services faces Pharmasave.

Winner will play in the final schedule for Thursday.




A women's indoor soccer league is being planned for this fall.

Organizers looking at playing out of the Fort Frances High School gym every Wednesday beginning October 23 until late April.

It would be open to any female 13 or old.

The format and number of teams will be decided following a player registration, tentatively set for September 26th at the High School.
