Local Sports for Thursday August 9


In women's semi-final action in the Borderland Soccer League last night.

Boston Pizza shut out La Place Rendez-Vous 9 to 0

Laureen Peters scored four times in leading her team to a final berth.

Boston will play Taggs Source for Sports who beat Al's Racquet Stringing 4 to 1.

Courtney Roach had a pair for Taggs.

Finals go today.

Men's final will see Manitou Forest Products up against International Travel Services.




One finalist in the Rainy River district fastball league will be determined tonight.

Regular season champions, Big Grassy Braves will hosts Beef's Warriors with the winner advancing to the final round.

The loser will await the winner of tonight's quarter-final round match between Stratton and Rainy River.




Several anglers from the Rainy River district are vying for the $25-thousand top prize money being offered up at the Kenora Bass International.

The catch and release tournament, celebrating its 25th year, begins today.
