Local Sports For Monday August 27

Gavin Paul won his 9th feature of the season Saturday to retain the championship in the WISSOTA modified division at Emo Speedway.

Brady Caul in the midwest modified division and Ron Westover in the Street Stocks were the other feature winners, but the divisional title were won by Christoper Leek and Libby Wilson.




On the go-kart track in Emo, Tanner Williamson won the advanced class feature.

Raice Westover was the winner in the Novice division.




Duane and John Peterson of Bemidji captured the International Falls Bass Championship with a two-day catch with just over 28 lbs.

They won $10,000 for their effort.

Nathan Brigham and Brett Meyers of Emo led after the first day, but slipped to sixth overall.




Pat Handorgan and Pat Gibbons captured the Morson Bass Classic.

They weighed in over 33 lbs of bass to take home 15-hundred dollars.

Larry Brusven and Dana Kaliska were about a pound and a half back in second.




Dennis Ogivie of Emo was the overall winner of the Bass Dash 5-K in International Falls Saturday.

He finished the route in just under 19 minutes.

Victoria Alexander of Atikokan finished second to earn top female honours.

A total of 128 runners took part, an increase of 25 per cent from last year.

Overall attendance up by 25% this year with a total of 128 participants.  Of those 128 -- 78 females and 43 males finished the race.

Overall female winner is Victoria Alexander, age 17, from Atikokan, ON with a time of 19:11.
Overall male winner is Dennis Ogilvie, age 26, from Emo, ON with a race record breaking time of 18:53.
