Local Sports for Tuesday August 21


14- year-old Adam Stromberg earned a silver medal in swimming at the Ontario Summer Games in Toronto on the weekend.

He won it in the 100 meter freestyle race for his age category.

He narrowly missing claiming bronze in the 50 meter free by 1/10th of a second and finished fourth in the 200 meter breaststroke.




Fort Frances Lakers have their top draft pick from this year secure.

16-year-old Hunter Leishman joins the team from the Fort Frances Muskies.

The Lakers now have one goalie, 3 defenceman and 9 forwards signed with the main training camp to start next week.




Registrations for Emo Minor Hockey will take place next week.

They'll happen at the Emo Arena August 27th and 28th from 6:30 pm to 8 pm both nights.

New registrants need to bring their birth certificate.




Fort Frances Vipers Volleyball Club is preparing for its upcoming season.

Try-outs for both the under 14 and under 16 teams will be held at Fort Frances High School September 4 and September 11.

Tryouts for the travelling team will be held in December.
