Local Sports For Wednesday August 29


Stratton's Guy Arpin has sent the Rainy River District Fastball League championship to a win-take-all game Thursday.

Arpin smacked a grand slam homerun and pitched the distance for the win in the Eagles 8-7 victory over the Big Grassy Braves.

Because it was the Braves first loss in the post-season, one final game will be played Thursday in Stratton.




Fort Frances Muskies fall court teams are preparing for their play in NORWOSSA.

Girls Basketball begins try outs today with the senior girls on the court at 3:30 p.m. this afternoon and the juniors at 5 p.m.

Boys volleyball tryouts go tomorrow afternoon.




International Falls Broncos girls volleyball team has its home opener tonight.

It faces Two Harbours at 6 p.m.

The Broncos won their season opener last week.




The Fort Frances Girls Women's Hockey Association holds its registation for the coming season today at the Memorial Sports Centre.

It goes from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. tonight.

Another will happen tomorrow night.




The Border Skating Club is also holding registration tonight.

It's at the Ice for Kids Arena conference room from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
