Local Sports For Thursday October 4


The Superior International Junior Hockey League has lost one its teams.

The Sioux Lookout Flyers have suspended hockey operations for the remainder of this season.

President Mitch Wills says they were simply in a position where they couldn't continue in a competitive and professional manner.

The League has yet to comment on the announcement.




The Fort Frances Lakers have acquired three players impacted by the Sioux Lookout Flyers decision to suspend operations in the SIJHL.

Forward Jacob Nolan of Geraldton has been added to the Lakers line-up.

Goaltender Eric Messer of Oklahoma forward Brody Fostey of Winnipeg are currently practising with the team.





Fort Frances Muskies court teams are on the road today with games in Dryden.

International Falls Muskies girls volleyball team plays at Ely.




Scared Hitless is along at the top of the standings in the Fort Frances women's volleyball League.

It has 12 points going into tonight's week 3 play.

Bump it Up and Gillons Insurances Cougars tied for second three points back.



Rainy River Voyageurs women's volleyball team was swept in three games by Mesabi Range.
