Local Sports For Wednesday October 24

A first for Fort Frances Muskies court teams this season.

All four teams won in games played yesterday against Kenora's Beaver Brae Broncos.

The junior girls basketball team ran its record to 5 and 1 with a 34-32 decision over Kenora.

The senior girls won for the first time this season, 22-17.

On the volleyball court, the junior boys won in four sets while senior boys won their match over the Broncos in four as well.



Atikokan Voyageurs earned one win in games played on the court yesterday against Kenora's St. Thomas Aquinas Saints.

The Voyageurs junior boys volleyball team defeated the Saints in five games.

The seniors lost in three.

On the basketball court, Atikokan's junior girls lost 45-30 while the senior fell 40-18.




International Falls Broncos football team has advanced to the semi-finals of the Section 7AAA championship with a convincing 35-8 win last night over Virginia.

Nick Janttie had three short touchdown runs while Ben Humbert caught two more on passes from Gunnar Anderson.

The Broncos will play in Proctor Saturday.



Playoff action for the International Broncos girls volleyball team tonight.

They open the first round play in the Section 7AA championship with a home game against Eveleth-Gilbert.

Game time is 7 p.m.
