Local Sports For Wednesday September 26


Fort Frances Muskies court teams split games with Dryden to open their NORWOSSA seasons.

The junior girls basketball team defeated Dryden 48-45 while the seniors boys volleyball team swept the Eagles in three games, 25-19, 25-21 and 25-22.

The senior girls basketball team lost 49-48, beat out by a 3-pointer by the Eagles in the dying seconds of the game.

The junior boys volleyball team lost 3-1 by scores of 20-25, 20-25, 25-10 and 20-25.




Fort Frances Muskies football team improved to 2 and 2 on the season after whitewashing Tec Voc 33-0.

Cameron Gobeil rushed for 3 touchdowns with Colton Craig adding another on the run.




Lexi Erickson and Sydney Raboin finished 1-2 as the Falls Broncos girls cross-country run team took the six-team Ely Invitational.

Amber Harms, Amy Auran and Rachel Foss also had top ten finishes.

The boys team was third with Wyatt Ulrich in 7th and Logan Veilliuex in 9th the top finishers.

And Cole Tatsak won the sophmore boys run with Cody Tatask in second.



International Falls Bronco girls volleyball team swept past Virginia in 3-games by scores of 25-19, 25-21 and 25-14.




Rainy River Owls splits games on the court against Kenora's St. Thomas Aquinas Saints.

The senior girls basketball team won 50-17 while the juniors were as effecting taking their game over the Saints 36-17

On the volleyball court, the senior Owls were swept in three games while the Juniors lost in four.




Fort Frances Lakers open their SIJHL season in Hibbing with a game against the Minnesota Iron Rangers.



Registration for the Borderland Women's Indoor Soccer League goes tonight, 7 p.m. at the Fort France High School.
