Local Sports For Friday August 16

Borderland Soccer Action saw La Place Rendezvous-Vous Voyageurs U18 shut out Boston Pizza 4-0 to take the women's division title.

Maryam Seid scored twice while Alyssa Holliday and Jess Caul added singles.

Amy Penner earned the shut out

Senior Pharmasave and International Travel Services had a 1-1 tie in their matchup.

But Senior Pharmasave took the match 4-3 in penalty kicks to take the men's title.

Mike Ohman scored for Senior Pharmasave while Cameron Gobeil scored for ITS.



A big night of racing last night at the Go Kart Track in Emo.

Garrett Froemke took the rookie class while Tanner Williamson and Carter Kinnear won the Junior 1 and 2 class titles.

The Senior class went to Wyatt Boyum and Dane Olson captured the Heavy class.



Emo's Christopher Leek took to the track in Grand Rapids, Minnesota yesterday for the WISSOTA modified feature finishing 8th.

Leek remains 4th in the standings at the track.



Big night of racing at Emo Speedway this weekend.

Borderland Racing Association stages its two-day event starting tonight.

WISSOTA Modified points leader Gavin Paull is looking for a win.

Racing begins at 6:30 p.m. both tonight and tomorrow.



Training camps for the Fort Frances Muskies football team will begin next Monday.

Practices will be held each evening starting at 6:30 until the start of the school year.

All interested students from Grade 9 through 12 must be in attendance.



A women's fastball tournament starts today in Big Grassy.

The event, hosted by the Lynx, runs as part of this weekends pow-wow.

Finals go Sunday.



Registration continues for next month Aquathon in Fort Frances.

Entry forms are still available for the September 8th event and can be obtained at the Memorial Sports Centre, or by contacting the Rainy Lake Triathlon Club at 274-6848.

It includes a 750 metre swim and and a 5K run.

Cost is 25 dollars or 30 dollars as a team.
