Local Sports For Friday August 2

Sabaskong Lakers are the first team to be eliminated from the Rainy River District Fastball League playoffs.

The Lakers suffered their second loss, losing 13-12 to Dawson.

Elsewhere Big Grassy blanked Big Island 20-0 on homeruns from Kimi Copenance, Travis Tom and Roger Allan.

Manitou got by Sight and Sound 6-1.

Barwick beat Northwest Bay 8-1.

Beefs Warriours edged Stratton 6-5.



Both games in the women's division of the Borderland Soccer League ended up forfeits because teams couldn't field full squads.

Boston Pizza was handed the win over Al's Racquet Stringing.

Taggs Source for Sports forfeited to La Place Rendez-Vous Voyageurs.



The Borderland Rage Under 10 girls team will play their first game this morning at the USA International Hockey Cup tournament in Blaine, Minnesota, when they take on the Minnesota Miracle.

The Rage are made up of players from Kenora, Dryden, and Fort Frances.



Lobbying continues to convince former Fort Frances resident Duncan Keith to bring the Stanley Cup to Fort Frances.
