Local Sports For Wednesday August 14

Two teams have reached the semi-finals while two others have been eliminated from the Rainy River District Men's Fastball League playoff.

Big Grassy Braves beat Manitou 6-2 to reach the semis and will play Barwick next Tuesday after the Blue Knights edged out Beefs Warriors 6-5.

On the losing end, Dawson was eliminated, falling 10-1 to Stratton.

Sight and Sound ended Big Island's run with a 12-1 victory.

Johnny Desaulniers had a pair of homes in the same.

Monday, Sight and Sound had put down the Rainy River Royals  10-2.



It will be the La Place Rendez-Vous Voyageurs and Boston Pizza playing for the women's division championship in the Borderland Soccer League.

The Voyageurs advanced by beating Al's Racquet Stringing 8-1.

Maryam Seid and Jess Caul each had a pair of goals while Angel McCormack, Hailey Beaudry, Maggie Jean adding singles Angela Cole.

Carla Penner replied for Al's.

And Boston Pizza reached the final with a 2-nil win over Taggs Source for Sports.

Jessica Wilson and Laureen Peters provided the scoring.

Amy Wilson-Hands was credited with the shutout.



Bronze medal games take place in the Borderland Soccer League tonight.

Manitou Forest Products faces the La Place Rendez Vous Voyageurs in the men's division game.

Al's Racquet Stringing plays Taggs Source For Sports in the women's game.



There is go-karting in International Falls tonight.

The club moved its weekly races from Thursday to avoid conflicts with races that will run tomorrow as part of the fair in Emo.

Tonight's racing at Rainy Lake Oil Speedway begin at 7 p.m.
