Local Sports For Tuesday August 13

The top two teams in the regular season, will meet Thursday for the men's soccer crown in the Borderland Soccer League.

Regular season champs, International Travel Services advanced, beating the La Place Rendez-Vous Voyageurs 6-1.

Ian Friesen, Daniel Cunningham, Cameron Gobeil, Marouane Cheblaoui, Gavin Moorhouse and Garnet Cornell scored for ITS.

Tyler Ruppenstein replied for the Voyageurs.

Senior Pharmasave needed penalty kicks to get by Manitou Forest Products.

The teams had tied 1-1 after in regulation with Allan Albao scoring for the Seniors and Ahamadou Idrissou scoring for Manitou.



First round of the Rainy River District Women's Fastball playoffs saw Couchiching defeat the Lynx 12-4

The Fort Frances Her-icanes beat Sabaskong.

No score was provided.




Training camps for the Fort Frances Muskies football team begin next Monday.

Practices will be held each evening starting at 6:30 p.m. until the start of the school year.

All interested students from Grade 9 through 12 must be in attendance.



Thirty-five horses and about 50 riders from across northwestern Ontario, Manitoba and Minnesota took part in the Borderland Quarter Horse show in Emo on the weekend.

Kaija LeCocq of Murillo among the top winners, capturing the high point in the junior, novice and amateur categories.
