Local Sports For Friday February 28

Fort Frances Muskies boys hockey team is a win away from securing a post in the all-Ontario high school hockey championship.

The Muskies defeated Kenora's Beaver Brae Broncos 7-1 to take game one of the best of three NorWossa final.

Tyler Van Uden led the onslaught with a pair of goals.

Braden Webb, Noah Loveday, Josh Gouin, David Pryde and Chris Ferguson added singles.

Game two goes Sunday in Kenora.



Fort Frances Lakers return to home ice for the second game this week with the English River Miners.

The Lakers beat the Miners Wednesday in Ear Falls 3-1.



International Falls Broncos girls basketball team concludes its regular season with a game against Deer River.

Game time at Falls High is 7:15 p.m.



The Rainy River Voyageurs women's basketball team is in playoff action tomorrow in Thief River Falls.

They face the MCAC's northern division's leading Northland Pioneers to open the Region 13B championship tournament.



Top of the standings in the Fort Frances women's volleyball league has tightened up.

Alliance moved into a first place tie with Scared Hitless following action last night.

Both teams have 71 points with one week left in the season.

Gillon's Cougars hold down second spot with 70 points.

Notorious D.I.G.and Kiss My Pass round out the top five.
