Local Sports For Tuesday March 4

The plane out of Fort Frances to OFSSA is going to overloaded.

The high school's girls curling team, skipped by Hailey Beaudry, earned a berth to the all-Ontario curling championships after finishing first at the NWOSSA event in Chapleau.

Beaudry's rink went undefeated and will travel to Brampton later this month.

The boys team, skipped by Reece Jones, finished third overall, with a 3 and 2 record.



Bryce Lipinski scored twice as the Fort Frances Lakers defeated Wisconsin 7-2 in an SIJHL game played in Hoyt Lakers.

Brent Aiken, Mason Meyer, Lucas Debenedet, Kevin Kurm and Bryson Jasper had the other goals.

Lakers wrap up their regular season against the Wilderness Friday at home.



Fort Frances Lakers defenceman Cody Wickstrom has been named player of the week in the SIJHL.

The 20-year-old from Marquette, Michigan had six assists in the Lakers three wins last week.
