Local Sports For Tuesday March 11

Fort Frances Laker netminder Devin Tappenden has been named the second star for the month of February by the Canadian Junior Hockey League.

The 19-year old from Markham post an 8 and 0 record, including 5 wins on the road.

Tappenden was also the SIJHL’s performer of the month.



The playoff schedule has been set by the SIJHL.

Fort Frances Lakers and the Thunder Bay North Stars will begin their first-round two-game total goal series this Saturday in Thunder Bay.

Game 2 will be played March 21 in Fort Frances.

The winner earns choice of opponent in the semi-finals.



Rainy River Voyageurs men's baseball team split its second series of games in its pre-season play in Florida.

The Voyageurs lost 10-3 to Schenectady Community College, but rebounded for a 2-0 in their second contest.
