Local Sports For Tuesday February 4

Fort Frances Lakers netminder Devin Tappenden has been named the SIJHL player of the week.

In three starts last week, the 19-year-old native of Markham, Ontario, posted a 2-0-and-1 record, giving up an average 1.96 goals per game and stopping over 94 per cent of shots faced.



The Fort Frances Lakers remain sixth overall in the Canadian Junior Hockey League weekly rankings.

They are aback in action tomorrow against Minnesota in Hoyt Lakes.



A 34-point performance from Ben Humbert paced the International Falls Bronco boys basketball team to a 71-65 victory over Virginia.




Maddie Filipiak scored 20 in the Broncos girls basketball team's 56-54 win over Cherry.



Fort Frances Muskies court teams play their final NorWossa league games today.

The boys basketball and girls volleyball teams host Dryden with games beginning at 12 noon.



The Fort Frances Muskies girls hockey team will face Sioux Lookout at home.



Over at Falls High, the Broncos boys hockey team hosts Lake of the Woods - 7:30 p.m. at Bronco arena.
