Local Sports For Tuesday March 18

The search for OFSSA gold begins today with the Fort Frances Muskies opening play at the all-Ontario high school boys hockey championship in Burlington.

The Muskies are seeded fifth and will open the tournament with a game against Timmins this morning at 9 AM Central time.

Then at 2 PM Central time, they are back on the ice against Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto.



It's a first appearance for the Muskies girls team at the all-Ontario championship taking place in Sudbury.

The 8th seeded Muskies play their first game against Embrum at 9:30 AM Central time.

They're back on the ice at 1:30 PM Central against 3rd ranked St. Michael Catholic School.

Fort Frances Muskies are into the win column following their first game at the all-Ontario high school boys hockey championship in Burlington, walloping an undermanned Timmins team 12-1.

Josh Gouin and Graeme Kitt each notched hat tricks while Noah Loveday and Maxwell Willians scored twice.

Other goals game from Brett Hahkala, Cole Tymkin, Jarred Taylor, Tyler Vanuden and Derek Kaemingh.

Timmins played with just 11 players with the rest of its squad back home competing in midget hockey playoffs.

The Muskies are back on the ice at 2 pm central time against Toronto's Community Hebrew Academy.



Shelby Tymkin's first period goal stood as the winner at the Muskies girls hockey team held on for a 1-0 win over Embrun to open the all-Ontario high school hockey championship in Sudbury.

The Muskies did have a goal disallowed in the second on a late whistle.

They now prepare for a game against Stratford's St. Michael Catholic School beginning at 1:30 PM central time.
