Local Sports For Wednesday March 26

International Falls Broncos girls track team placed third at an indoor meet yesterday in Bemidji.

Savannah Olson picked up a win in the shot put.

Emma Gilbert place second in the same event.

Lexi Erickson was second in the 3200 metre run while Breanna Shoffner finished second in the 60 metre event.



A member of the Rainy River Voyageurs women's softball team has earned the season's first pitcher of the week honours in the MCAC Northern Division.

Oashaja Dobie struck out 64 in 50 innings of work over the weekend to go 5-3 to start the season.

The Voyageurs, who went 6 and 3,  have also been ranked 10th to start the season by the NJCAA.



All-star honours for International Falls native Ben Gordon.

He's been named to the All-Central Hockey League team.

The member of the Tulsa Oilers is currently 4th in league scoring with 88 points and second in goals with 35.




Dates for the SIJHL semi-final series between the Fort Frances Lakers and the English River Miners have been announced.

The best-of-seven series will begin Friday at the Ice for Kids arena with game two going Saturday night before it shifts to Ear Falls for games 3 and 4 next Thursday and Friday.

The other semi-final series involving the Thunder Bay North Stars and the Minnesota Iron Rangers is also starting Friday in Thunder Bay.
