Local Sports For Monday March 24

Fort Frances Lakers have selected their semi-final round opponent.

They've decided to play the winner of the quarter-finals series between English River and Dryden.

The Miners currently lead that series 3-2 with game 6 being played tonight in Dryden.

The Lakers earned the right to choose its next round opponent after inning a two-game total-goal series over Thunder Bay, capped by a 3-0 win Friday.



Don Debenedet's rink came out on top of the men's International bonspiel held at the Fort Frances Curling Club on the weekend.

He beat out the Raymond Roy rink in the A-side final.

Greg Gustafson beat John Gibson's foursome in the B-side.

Chris Silver took the C-side title over Ron Silver.

Peter Jenson beat Dave Johnson in the D-side event.

A total of 24 teams participated.
