Local Sports For Thursday February 27

A pair of second period goals, 15-seconds apart, led to the Fort Frances Lakers beating the English
River Miners 3-1, in an SIJHL game played in Ear Falls.

Meyer Meyer broke a 1-1 tie before Adam Wesley-Chisel add an insurance marker.

Kevin Kurm had the Lakers other goal.

The two teams meeting again Friday in Fort Frances.



International Falls Broncos boys basketball team has advanced to the semi-finals of the Section 7AA championship, beating Mesabi East 71-41.

Cole Miggins topped all Broncos with 18 points.

Broncos now play Proctor on Saturday.



Weather forced the cancellation of games in the Borderland Women's indoor soccer league.

They will resume play next week.



Game one of the NorWossa boys hockey finals goes tonight at the Ice For Kids arena.

Fort Frances Muskies battle Kenora's Beaver Brae Broncos.

Game time is 7:15 p.m.



All-star recognition for a member of the Rainy River Voyageurs women's basketball team.

Roneisha Jordan has been selected to the MCAC's northern division's first all-star team.

The freshman out of Florida led the division in rebounds and was fourth overall in scoring.
